General Questions
Q. What is MarketPlace Commercial Edition?
A. MarketPlace Commercial Edition is a special version of
our award-winning CD-ROM list-generation tool designed especially
for resellers of D&B data. Like regular MarketPlace, it allows
quick, desktop access to complete demographics on over 13 million
U.S. businesses.
Q. How is Commercial Edition different than
regular MarketPlace?
A. MarketPlace Commercial Edition has all the features and all the
data that regular MarketPlace has. Commercial Edition Customers
also have access to a special 3-line label option for half the price
(one-half credit) of a MarketPlace Mailing Record. Also, in return
for a minimum commitment of business, Commercial Edition customers
have access to meter credits for licensing D&B base data at
a substantially reduced price.
Q. I am interested in subscribing to Commercial
Edition. Whom should I speak with?
A. Contact Dave McInerny at 781.672.9387. He can explain the advantages
of Commercial Edition for resellers of compiled data as well as
data pricing and minimum commitments.
Q. What data is included with Commercial
Edition?
A . All of the same data found in regular MarketPlace can also be
found in MarketPlace Commercial Edition. There are more than 14
million U.S. businesses represented in the D&B base data. In
addition, we have layered on millions of contact names, specialty
data (open data).
Q. Can I use Open Data with a 3-line label?
A . No. If you want to add Open Data contact names, or specialty
data to your list, you must use a Mailing label (1 credit) or larger
record type.
Q. Can I use Commercial Edition and regular
MarketPlace at the same time?
A . Yes. Your Commercial Edition meter registration number unlocks
the special Commercial Edition features and pricing. If you have
a meter for regular MarketPlace, you may use it with your Commercial
Edition installation. You will not have access to the 3-line label
or to special reseller pricing, however.
Q. How often is Commercial Edition updated?
A. The MarketPlace Commercial Edition software with base D&B
data and Open Data is updated quarterly.
Discount and Licensing
Q. What is the discount code and how does
it work?
A. When you activate or refill your meter with credits for licensing
data, you will be given a discount code to enter into the software
when prompted. This allows us to give you a reduced price on meter
credits.
Q. Does my discount apply to Open Data?
A. Most Commercial Edition customers have a deep discount on D&B
base data but may have little or no discount on Open Data such as
job functions or specialty selectors. This is because Open Data
is premium data from brand-name providers such as American List
Counsel and Harris InfoSource and we must pay these providers royalties
on the data you purchase. The discount code you enter into the software
includes information on the separate discounts you receive on base
data and Open Data.
Q. Why am I charged more credits than the
list price for Open Data?
A. The discount code adjusts the number of credits you pay for Open
Data based on the difference between your discount on base data
and Open Data. This makes up for the fact that you paid a low price
on all of the credits you received. The discount code does not affect
how many credits you pay for base D&B data.
Setup
Q. How do I uninstall if I have two copies
of MarketPlace on my PC?
A. Uninstall will only remove the files associated with the version
of MarketPlace you installed most recently. Any previous installation
to a different directory will not be removed or otherwise affected
by running uninstall. To remove other versions of MarketPlace from
your PC, you must manually delete the entire directory each version
is contained in. Make sure you make backup copies of anything important
in those directories that you might want later. Please call Customer
Support at 800-532-3775 if you have questions about uninstalling.
Additional D&B data
We offer additional D&B data that isn't available on your MarketPlace
discs.
Call 800-532-3775 and ask about all
the additional data we are delivering, including corporate affiliations,
truck owners and users, international businesses, and much more!
